# EEW in detail

The Federal Funding Program for Energy and Resource Efficiency in the Economy (EEW) is a cross-sector **funding program** that supports companies in sustainably improving their **energy and resource efficiency**. The goal is to lower **energy consumption**, reduce CO₂ emissions, and strengthen companies’ competitiveness through **climate-friendly** investments. Both individual measures and comprehensive **transformation projects** are eligible for funding.

Funding is provided by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) and is aimed at companies of **all sizes and across all sectors**, as well as municipal utilities and energy service providers. Companies can choose between **grants and low-interest loans** with partial debt forgiveness. The EEW program has a **modular** structure and covers various areas of energy efficiency and decarbonization. The most recent amendment has significantly simplified access to funding: Companies can now receive funding directly as a **proportion** of their **investment costs** without having to perform complex calculations of additional investment costs.
