Interview with Jean-Pascal Lutze, CEO & Co-Founder of NoMaze
Background Information
Q: Can you provide a brief overview of your company and what you offer?
Jean-Pascal Lutze: NoMaze develops AI-powered software for plant breeding. With the help of our foundational model, seed and agricultural companies can make data-driven predictions about plant traits and development. By incorporating genetic and environmental data, genomic prediction enables accurate predictions of traits such as temperature and heat tolerance before new varieties are bred. These insights enable the breeding of new, more robust varieties. This allows companies to better adapt to the effects of changing climate conditions while simultaneously increasing their yields and securing their harvests.
Q: What specific product or service from FUNDED have you used?
Jean-Pascal Lutze: As part of its Grant Support Service, FUNDED assisted us in applying for the Forschungszulage. Through this collaboration, we were able to secure funding for costs totaling EUR 4.58 million, with a funding rate of 35%.
Experience with FUNDED
Q: What challenges were you facing before using FUNDED?
Jean-Pascal Lutze: Before partnering with FUNDED, it simply was not feasible for us to handle the Forschungszulage application process on our own. It would have tied up time and resources that we need for our work at NoMaze.
Q: How would you rate your collaboration with FUNDED?
Jean-Pascal Lutze: FUNDED guided us through the application process of the Forschungszulage with their extensive experience. This allowed us to secure approval quickly while remaining fully focused on our work at NoMaze to deliver AI-powered genetic prediction for better crops.
